The pandemic has put a fair share of travel plans to a halt, but fortunately, there’s still a good chance that you can spend some quality summertime.

Namely, most of Europe is now open for Americans that have taken their vaccine shot, so today we’ll talk about some of the finest destinations, as well as the specifics regarding each country. Without any ado, let’s get straight into it:

Cyprus

One of the most alluring things about Cyprus is that this country doesn’t require you to quarantine if you have either a negative Covid 19 test or the Green passport. Aside from that, it’s a remarkable place that has a rich history, as well as a vibrant culture.

The Ancient Kourion is arguably the most attractive tourist city in Cyprus, sitting on a gorgeous coastal line and laden with historic monuments that shine the brightest during summertime.

However, Kourion is fairly vast, so even if you’re the most enthusiastic trekker of all, you still may want to consider getting a decent car that can handle its sandy terrain.

If you’re up for a swim and relaxing by the beachside, Larnaca is the way to go. It’s located on the southeast side of Cyprus and has a landscape that is beyond beautiful. Other notable cities and highlights include the Karpas Peninsula, the ancient Salamis monuments, Kolossi Castle, and the tourists’ all-time favorite Cape Greco.

France

The most romantic European country has opened its gates to vaccinated American citizens, and it’s currently among the most booked destinations you could visit.

In addition to the vaccination confirmation paper, you’ll also need a negative PCR test not older than three days prior to departure. Otherwise, you’ll have to quarantine for a full week.

Obviously, you should try getting as near Paris as possible if you want to see the full beauty of the wondrous Eiffel Tower, but that’s just one of the myriad tourist attractions this city has in store for you.

An eclectic range of restaurant serving the most exquisite meals and wines surround the place, making it an excellent choice for newlywed couples and those planning to propose. In addition to that, the Louvre Museum, the Palace of Versailles, the famous Cote d’Azur, and Loire Valley’s Chateaux are all within less than a day’s drive.

Croatia

The coastal jewel of the Balkan States is fully open to vaccinated American citizens. Even non-vaccinated US tourists can enter if they can prove they’ve fully recovered from the virus or if they want to take the PCR test upon arrival.

Dubrovnik is widely renowned for its Medieval walls in addition to being one of the most gorgeous cities with access to the Adriatic Sea. The famous Old Town offers pristinely preserved architecture that speaks volumes about the country’s vibrant history.

Split is another city you may want to visit, especially if you’re religious, as it features numerous churches, still following the same aesthetic pattern of medieval architecture.

Hvar’s a somewhat smaller coastal town that is as peaceful as it is beautiful, making it ideal for senior tourists and couples. If you’d rather have a cruise and spend some time on the sea, Kornati’s National Park might be the perfect place to visit.

Greece

Greece is a favorite tourist location of central Europeans, and it’s now open to vaccinated US tourists. Being heavily influenced (and in turn heavily influencing) the culture of the Ancient Roman Empire, modern-day Greece is a historical landmark in and of itself.

The Acropolis in Athens is its pride, as well as the actual symbol of Greece. It’s surrounded by prehistoric temples, including the renowned Parthenon.

Santorini is easily among the most breathtaking cliff-side towns, albeit it may not be as rewarding to teens and youngsters who prefer swimming over sightseeing trips. Other notable highlights include the Delphi Heritage Site, Corfu, and the Meteora Monasteries.

Serbia

Serbia is open to US citizens, regardless of whether they’ve been vaccinated or not. All you need is a negative PCR test that is not older than two days. Its vast history and myriads of preserved historic monuments, fortresses, and churches make it a perfect spot for sightseeing.

Naturally, you’d want to start your trip from the capital Belgrade. Not only is this the largest city in the country, but it’s also the place where nightlife is the most vibrant, the restaurants backed with world-class chefs, and the topography eclectic.

Hundreds of villages surround major cities, where you will be able to taste the most exquisite home-cooked meals that are otherwise unavailable in fancy venues.

You may want to add Niš to your list, as this city has as much history as monuments, churches, and monasteries. In addition to that, it’s also much cheaper food-wise than most major cities in the country.

Finally, you should also pay a visit to Kruševac, which is the old capital not too far from Niš and Belgrade. It offers an eclectic blend of nightlife venues, traditional restaurants and is surrounded by beautiful forests.

Ireland

While the access to the British Isles may present a series of inconveniences, Ireland is more than just a viable alternative if you’re planning a trip to Europe this summer. While a vaccine confirmation form is certainly helpful to have, you’ll need to fill the PLF (passenger-locator form) as well.

Some of the most notable attractions in this country include the famous Grafton Street in Dublin, Killarney Park, as well as Kilmainham Gaol.

Sightseers are recommended to visit the Ring of Kerry and Glendalough, which are arguably the two most stunning views that Ireland has to offer. Castle-lovers might also enjoy the gorgeous architecture of the Rock of Cashel, Ireland’s top-rated heritage site.

The coastal Kinsale is ideal for swimming and sunbathing while the renowned Dingle Peninsula is regarded as the hearth of Irish folklore to this day. It’s tricky to navigate, though, as it’s steeped in windy roads, most notably the Wild Atlantic Way.

We hope that this brief rundown was useful to you and that you’ve learned something new one destinations in Europe that American citizens can visit this summer. Make sure you are staying safe in these times we are going through and have a good one, guys!
